East Lansing Council Member Donald Power Resigns

EAST LANSING - East Lansing city council member Donald Power has resigned. In a statement from East Lansing Cit y Manager George Lahanas, Power's resignation took effect Wednesday. The statement gave no reason for Power's resignation.

According to the East Lansing City Council web page, Power was elected to the council in November of 2011.

We have left messages with the city manager, the city council office, and Donald Power himself, inquiring about the reason for the resignation.

The East Lansing City Council will convene a special meeting this coming Tuesday, Aug. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in Courtroom 2 of the East Lansing 54-B District Court, 101 Linden Street. This public meeting will be held to establish a process for filling the vacancy. The East Lansing City Charter requires the City Council to make an appointment within 30 days of the vacancy.
