Festival Celebrates the World's 2-4%: Redheads
A festival in Ireland is turning heads: red heads that is. Proud redheads from all over Ireland gathered in Crosshaven Saturday for the annual Red Head Convention.
It's a celebration of red hair. Awards were presented for all types of red hair, from beards and eyebrows, to the longest and curliest. There was even an award for the redhead with the most freckles.
"Why? Well, why not. I suppose there are so many redheads in Ireland,"said Joleen Cronin, convention organizer. "Why not, let's celebrate being proud of our red hair. Proud of being ginger. And yeah, let's do it. It's a great celebration celebrating everything to do with redheads."
It's estimated just 2 to 4 percent of the world's population has red hair.
