Child Drowns in Jackson County
SUMMIT TWP - A small child drowned in a pool in Summit Township Wednesday night.
The 15-month old girl was at her grandmother's home on Vera Cruz Street around 7 o'clock.
Undersheriff Chris Kuhl says in a brief period of time the child managed to leave the house, walk across the yard, climb the stairs to the elevated deck of an above-ground pool, and fell in. Paramedics attempted to revive the child, but she did not survive.
Undersheriff Kuhl says their investigation shows this to be a tragic accident.
