Update: Failed Circuit Led to BWL Plant Evacuation
A failed circuit caused sparks that led to the evacuation of the Board of Water & Light's Erickson power plant in Delta Township Tuesday evening.
The incident triggered the plant's automatic shut-off system at 7:15pm. All five employees on duty left the building and the plant was taken offline while firefighters checked the interior.
The incident was contained to one room. No injuries are reported.
A fire at the BWL Erickson Power Plant in Delta Township Tuesday evening has blocked off Canal Road between Millett Highway and I-96. Fox 47 has a crew on its way to the scene. We'll provide updates here on fox47news.com and tonight on Fox 47 News at ten.
