Lansing Native Killed in Colorado Shootings
It's hard for many to believe Jordan Ghawi has no hate toward the person who shot and killed his sister, 24-year-old Jessica Ghawi: "There's no reason for me to hold any hate right now. It's just sadness."
It's still extremely tough to grasp that the young, aspiring sports reporter is gone; especially since she just narrowly escaped another shooting at a food court in Toronto last month. She blogged after the incident, writing: "I truly understand how blessed I am for each second I am given."
"She's a fiery red-head. She's passionate. There are so many words to describe her and none of them are negative," continued Jordan Ghawi.
The Lansing-born beauty lived in Mid-Michigan only shortly before moving to Texas, then Colorado, while traveling everywhere in between.
"She had a passion for life and it showed. It showed in everything she did," continued Jordan. A passion for her life, and the lives in the theater she wanted to protect. He says she was killed while trying to call for help, instead of staying silent and close to the ground: "My sister called, started to call 911 ... when my sister was struck."
So remember Jessica Ghawi: a good person representing Lansing, and the whole country, as we continue to mourn.
