Investigators think the murder-suicide of a couple in Jackson County last Friday stemmed from marital problems.
75-year-old Hobert Prater and his 60- year-old wife Mary were found dead with gunshot wounds in their Henrietta Township home. The sheriff's office believes Hobert shot Mary, then himself.
The two were recently separated.
A deadly shooting in Ionia County this weekend has also been ruled a murder-suicide.
The sheriff's office says Robbie Dennis, who worked for the corrections department, shot his wife Jamie while she was trying to leave their home on Westbrook Road in Ronald Township.
He then called a family member and told them what he did, before shooting himself.
