UPDATE: Lansing Board of Water & Light spokesperson tells FOX 47 that 1,397 customers are without electricity in East Lansing. This has not only closed city hall, but the power is out to the businesses along Grand River Avenue. MSU is not affected.

BWL estimates the power to be restored by 4:30pm, if not sooner. The power outage began shortly before noon. They say faulty equipment caused a circuit break.

Some traffic lights are out too. Drivers are reminded to treat uncontrolled intersections as 4-way stops.

City Hall in East Lansing had to close Wednesday afternoon due to a power outage.

54B District Court and the Bailey Community Center is also closed.

The Lansing Board of Water and Light told the city it could be 4:30pm at the earliest before power is restored.

East Lansing expects to resume business as normal on Thursday.
