Park Shooting Victim Identified, Family to Speak
LANSING - Police are now releasing the name of the woman who was killed by a gunshot while at Adado Riverfront Park in downtown Lansing Wednesday night. She is Michelle Packard, a 34-year-old Lansing resident.
"The Lansing Police Department extends their deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Michelle," police stated in a press release to FOX 47 Friday afternoon.
Later today a family member of the victim will address the press to plead for information on who may have fired the gun that killed Michelle Packard. FOX 47 will be at that press conference and bring you that statement on tonight's newscasts.
Packard was rushed to the hospital during the 4th of July celebration at Riverfront Park. A man nearby initially reported she appeared to be having seizures. Doctors discovered she had a bullet wound to her head. Packard died the next morning.
Police investigators believe the gunshot may have come from outside the park.
Anyone with information about anyone shooting guns in the downtown area Wednesday night is asked to call Lansing police at 483-6859.
