Lansing's emergency management office has declared an Orange alert, meaning cooling centers in mid-Michigan will be open Friday.

We've listed a couple of centers here. That includes the Gateway North Elementary School in St. Johns. In DeWittl, the memorial building is also serving as a cooling center.

Both are being staffed by the Red Cross.

Jackson Community College will also have one - it is the commons area of the Potter Center. It'll be open Friday from eight a.m. to nine p.m.

The other is the William Atkinson Hall library. It opens at 7:30, and will close at five p.m.

You can find a cooling center near you by dialing 2-1-1.
