Updated: Lansing Man Hit by Semi on 496 Dies
Lansing police say 24-year-old Gavin William Becker died from his injuries after being struck by a semi-truck. Becker was hit early Friday morning along Interstate 496 near the Pennsylvania exit.
The semi-trucker driver didn't stop at the scene, but was located a short time after the accident. The driver, a 48-year-old California resident, was briefly jailed, but was released and is now awaiting the results of an investigation by the Lansing Police accident investigators and the Ingham County Prosecutors' office.
Investigators don't know why Becker, from Lansing, was walking along I-496.
24-year-old Gavin William Becker was hit by a semitrailer early Friday morning on eastbound I-496, and died from his injuries Tuesday.
The Lansing man was struck by a 48-year-old California man, who originally left the scene of the accident before contacting police later.
An investigation continues into the accident.
