Construction in Lansing's REO Town has one business owner closing up shop.
Dave Sheets, owner of Discount Dave's, says he loses thousands of dollars a day in revenue, and has had to lay off half of his staff.
The two or three customers he gets a day, he adds, isn't enough to keep his store on South Washington open.
"How do businesses survive this kind of destruction to their neighborhood?" said Sheets. "I'm amazed there's not a program in place from the state, the city, somebody to help businesses like mine survive these things."
Dave is currently talking with a lawyer and is considering litigation for some sort of relief. Sheets is moving his store to a smaller location on Kalamazoo Street until construction is done.
