Accident Victim in Hospital with "Life-Threatening" Injuries
LSJ is reporting that a man is facing life-threatening injuries after being struck by a freightliner in the early morning Friday.
Police say that the semi-truck left the scene of the accident, but the driver has been located and police are interviewing.
496 eastbound had been completely closed at the site of the accident, but now one lane is open.
Police say it's unclear why the victim was on the freeway at the time.
Traffic is still backed up on 496 eastbound between MLK Jr. Blvd. and Pennsylvania.
A serious accident occurred on I-496 eastbound early Friday morning, and one lane is still closed on the interstate.
Traffic is backed up between South Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd and South Pennsylvania Avenue on 496.
Police urge that drivers avoid the area.
