Developers say, the six-story, three or four star Hyatt Place Hotel will be unlike any other place to lodge in the Greater Lansing Area.

It will have a unique, sharp design, and offer shuttles to easily connect guests with the mall and all local attractions. It will have 128 rooms, and offer room service providing food from many of Eastwood's restaurants.

The hotel alone will create almost 100, brand-new permanent jobs, along with 350 temporary construction jobs.

The hotel's $15 million price tag makes it yet another costly construction project at The Heights of Eastwood, but Executive Director of the Lansing Township Downtown Development Authority Steven Hayward promises that you aren't paying for any of it with your tax money.

"The entire Heights project is funded out of private revenue streams. So, tax payers aren't subsidizing anything that is occurring out here," said Hayward.

Agreeing with Lansing Melbourne Group's Peter Flotz, who will oversee the project, that Eastwood (and therefore, the Heights of Eastwood) are two of the only places in the state where this kind of rapid growth at this time, is possible.

"Through the recession, Eastwood never really lost tenants," said Flotz. "They stayed 96% occupied. It's the strongest retail center in Michigan by any measure."

Explaining further that an attractive, luxurious hotel will fill a void for the Eastwood area, and whole city.

"There's a lack of new hotels here in Lansing, yet there's huge generators of demand between state government and Michigan State."

Saying this isn't just a hotel, but another big step in the growth of the City's tourism.
