Downtown Lansing Welcomes La Fille Gallery
The face of downtown Lansing along Michigan Avenue is continually changing, and Wednesday's grand opening of La Fille Gallery, at the corner of Museum Drive.
Owner and artist Tiffany Klein has been working in the design business for about 20 years, and after previously being a tenant in Old Town, she was looking for a bigger, more permanent space.
"I leased a space in Old Town, and then I was looking for a larger space," Klein told us at the grand opening. "I thought to myself, 'you know what, I'm going to do this.' I wanted to do it so I wouldn't have to move again."
The space at the corner of Michigan Avenue and Museum Drive, a 102-year-old downtown spot that was the former Mill Supplies building, provides Klein with plenty of room to feature the furniture line and art pieces throughout the gallery.
"It all happened like it was supposed to happen. From the beginning to the end, I haven't changed what I do or who I am - I've just changed the facility that I'm in to make it more known and public," she says.
Tiffany Klein has her hand in every component of the gallery space, from the custom-designed light fixtures throughout the space to faux limestone columns inspired by a trip to Italy.
The mantra behind La Fille Gallery is "Make it Yours!", which echoes the motto behind the gallery's exclusive furniture partner Vanguard Furniture. Klein tells us that isn't an accident.
"When I visited Vanguard, their theme [of making it your own] was similar to ours in Klein Cabinets. I knew it was a company to really investigate. With Vanguard's permission, we used the tag line to go with them because we're exclusive to them."
For her clients, Klein wants to give them what they want, not what they see. Instead of limiting the options to what's been created in the gallery, customers and/or their home designers can visit the studio and create something they exactly want - from trim details to fabrics, the choices are plentiful and easy to navigate in the studio.
Klein hopes that La Fille Gallery will be a destination, a reason to come to downtown. With its sunny flower boxes and colorful sign, Tiffany Klein and her gallery breathe new life into Lansing.
