Awareness Group Looking to Protect Four-Legged Friends
Several people were at the Capitol Wednesday, trying to help protect our four-legged friends. The Puppy Mill Awareness Group of Southeast Michigan, along with people from local animal shelters and welfare groups, want lawmakers to pass the bills that would make sure breeders are taking proper care of dogs and puppies.
"We want to let them know constituents care about the issue, and we need better conditions and standards set for breeding facilities here in Michigan," said Pam Sordyl of the Puppy Mill Awareness Group.
Organizers are also trying to draw attention to the Pet Lemon Law, which would give people who buy sick or diseased animals from pet shops or breeders recourse against the sellers.
