A daring and devoted dog comes to the rescue of her owner and is now being hailed as a hero.

Lilly, an eight-year-old rescue pit bull, put her life on the line as she pulled her elderly owner out of the path of an on-coming train near Boston.

It happened last week, when the owner tripped and fell onto some train tracks. Lilly jumped into action when she saw what was about to happen.

"From one of the witnesses, said as the train was drawing near, he saw the dog pulling m mom off the tracks," said David Lanteigne, the owner's son.

Lilly's owner wasn't injured but Lilly suffered a broken pelvis and her right leg eventually had to be amputated.

She's expected to make a full recovery.
