Alert Neighbor Foils Burglary of Vacant Home
LANSING - An alert neighbor helps police catch a would-be thief. Lansing police arrested a 48-year-old man after they say he tried to break into one vacant home and then broke into another.
This happened Wednesday morning at about 6 o'clock in the 1600 block of Coleman Street. A witness called police to say he saw a man trying to pry his way into a home he knew to be vacant and under renovations.
The witness gave a description of the man. The witness told police the would-be burglar failed to get into one house, so moved onto another vacant house nearby.
The police arrived and arrested the burglary suspect as he was leaving the second house through the backyard.
