Tonight marks the 28th annual Silver Bells in the City event in downtown Lansing, and FOX 47 meteorologist David Harker takes us back to the early years of Silver Bells and how the event has changed over time.

Tonight's festivities kick off shortly after 6PM with the Electric Light Parade, which was added to Silver Bells back in 1997. The lighting of the state tree wasn't a part of the original Silver Bells in the City, but was added in the event's third year.

This year's tree is the largest in history, and comes from Jackson, Michigan. The tree will be lit at the conclusion of the parade, around 7:20PM. A fireworks display over the Capitol will follow, and Disney Channel star of "Let It Shine" and Hollywood Records recording artist Coco Jones will take to the Capitol steps to perform songs from her new album.

Watch this special look at Silver Bells from our FOX 47 News at 10PM broadcast, and keep an eye out for David Harker as he participates in the parade on the Wharton Center's WAR HORSE float.

If you can't make it downtown, you can watch the parade LIVE on FOX 47 from 6:00-8:00PM for the first time on broadcast television.

Whether watching it downtown or from home, we hope you enjoy the 28th annual Silver Bells in the City.
