28th Annual Silver Bells in the City Announces Disney Performer
LANSING ---- Silver Bells in the City is pleased to welcome Coco Jones, the talented 14-year-old performer and Disney star, as this year’s featured performer. She will perform Friday, Nov. 16, 2012 immediately following the fireworks, between 7:45 and 8:45 p.m. on the steps of the State Capitol.
Jones can be seen starring in the Disney Channel Original Movie Let It Shine opposite Tyler James Williams and Trevor Jackson. She also has recurring roles on Disney Channel’s So Random! and Good Luck Charlie. Jones recently signed to Hollywood Records and has been in the studio co-writing and recording all-new original music for her highly anticipated debut album.
Born in South Carolina and raised in Tennessee, this actress/singer/rapper triple threat recognized her love for performing at a young age. With the love and support of her parents, talented session vocalist, Javonda Jones and former NFL football player, Mike Jones, Coco gained the confidence to kick-start her career. At age nine, Coco had her first big performance when she sang the National Anthem at an NFL football game (St. Louis Rams versus Atlanta Falcons).
In 2010 Coco was a runner up on Radio Disney’s Next Big Thing, a show aiming to launch the music career of unsigned artists. She was one of five finalists to compete in Season 3. Her self-titled debut CD, “Coco Jones”, was released later that year, which led to her concert series, U.B.U.-STOP THE BULLYING.
Coco’s songs embrace her platform of positive values and strong selfesteem, showcasing her powerful and unique voice. Her recent musical performances include the 2012 NAACP Awards Nominees Luncheon, Essence Music Festival, Dwyane Wade’s “Wade World Foundation” charity event, the Tampa Bay Rays (MLB) Summer Concert Series, and headline dates on Radio Disney’s Next Big Thing Tour. Recent acclaim includes her feature on Essence.com in “35 Under 35: Young, Black, and
Amazing,” which places her among the likes of Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys, and Beyoncé.
The 28th Annual Silver Bells in the City is made possible through the support of many generous area sponsors, including Signature Sponsor, the Lansing Board of Water and Light. The Electric Light Parade sponsors are the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union 665 and the Lansing Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association. The fireworks show is generously sponsored by Lake Trust Credit Union, and the Silver Bells Fun Run is sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
