Rose Bowl on the Brain for MSU
A trip back to Pasadena - it has been the goal since Mark Hollis took over as Athletic Director and hired Mark Dantonio as Head Coach.
They've openly talked about it. They put the Rose Bowl logo all over the practice field. And now they are 60 minutes away from that goal.
Standing in the way is Wisconsin. The Badgers have lost two straight and three of the last four to MSU, and will no doubt have revenge on their minds Saturday night at Lucas Oil Stadium in the Big Ten title game.
What counts right now for MSU is the fact that they are in the title game.
"Now we are the Legends champion, and no asterisk by that. It's by ourselves. You know we have done that the last two years. I think we are 14-2 in the last two years in the Big Ten conference, I guess 21-and-3, so we are coming. But I am very excited for our players and happy for them in everything that they are doing," said Coach Dantonio.
When Michigan State used the rocket play to beat Wisconsin back in October, Kirk Cousins and Badger QB Russell Wilson got together afterwards at midfield. Cousins looked at his fellow senior and said, "I think we will be seeing you guys again."
He was right on, as the Spartans and Badgers will battle Saturday night in Indianapolis for the Big Ten title, with the winner going to Pasedena, somewhere the Spartans haven't been since 1988.
"Undefeated in November in back-to-back years, and I think that's a special accomplishment. A it put us where we want to be and that's in the championship game. We are getting ready for the biggest game of our lives in a week so we are 60 minutes from the Rose Bowl and we have to prepare like it," said quarterback Kirk Cousins.
