After months of rumor and speculation, the news was finally revealed on Monday that Kate Middleton and Prince William, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, are expecting their first child.

They were married in April 2011 and since then, royal watchers have waited for the news of a baby being added to the royal family.

On Tuesday's Michigan's Big Show, Michael Patrick Shiels spoke in studio with world correspondent Nicky Hale about the news.

An interesting piece of trivia? The baby's name needs to be approved by the Queen. And whether the baby is a boy or a girl, he or she will be next in line to the throne following Prince William - a change from previous rules in the monarchy that placed precedence on male heirs.
