Law enforcement officials from across mid-Michigan will gather today for a unity bike ride to remember a lost brother.

Two years ago today, Ingham County Sheriff's Deputy Grant Whitaker was killed in the line of duty, chasing a fleeing suspect.

The 25-year-old deputy was chasing John C. Kelsey's car at speeds of 100 miles per hour in the early morning hours of December 7, 2014.

His vehicle went off the road in Stockbridge township and fatally crashed into a tree.

Kelsey was found guilty of fleeing and alluding an officer causing death and operating a vehicle with a suspended license.

He is in prison now, serving 20 to 45 years.
