A ribbon cutting ceremony is being held for the new Outback Steakhouse in Delta Township.

The restaurant has relocated from Saginaw Highway to 617 North Canal Road, the site of the former Days Inn which was demolished.

To celebrate the grand opening and ribbon cutting at 11 a.m., 50% of proceeds from sales at Outback today will go to Ele's place, a center in Lansing for grieving children.

"We are truly honored to have been chosen as Outback Steakhouse's local charity partner for their opening" said Kate Powers, Senior Managing Director of Ele's Place. "Thanks to the support of partners like Outback, we're able to support hundreds of grieving children and provide them with a warm and welcoming place to meet new friends and begin to heal after the death of a loved one."

The new Outback Steakhouse is replacing the previous location off Saginaw Highway which closed on December 5. Guests will be able to enjoy signature grilled steaks, chicken and seafood entrees, and the Bloomin' Onion. The restaurant boasts the chain's new "Modern Australia" design, with décor that mirrors the indigenous flora and fauna, adventure, geography and leisure of modern day Australia.

And its not just a new restaurant that has Delta Township residents excited, but the area's first drive-thru Starbucks which will be adjacent to the new Outback. According to the Lansing State Journal, construction plans for the new coffee shop were submitted to the township last week. No word on when the Starbucks will open.
