Some of you may have already seen mosquitoes out, but is it too early in the spring for their appearance?

It's a nuisance for people trying to enjoy this early spring we're having.

Rachael Bergan and her daughter were outside for a school project, and they are not looking forward to dealing with  them.

"We have a lot of mosquitoes, we have a shady yard and they get pretty bad,and she has bouts of severe itchiness that keeps us up at night."Bergan said.

Usually Rachael doesn't worry about the mosquitoes, but when it comes to her daughter Elle, it's a different story.

"But, I am concerned about mosquito bites, especially having a child. Just you don't know what they are carrying,"she continued.

Professor Michael Kaufman with Michigan State University's Entomology department said it's too early to say if it will be a huge mosquito population this year, but mild winters allow some mosquitoes an early hunt.

"I honestly think this group will not last very long unless there's some sort of strange weather conditions," he said.

The other possible group of mosquitoes you may have witnessed, are those that transmit the West Nile Virus.

Over Winter, those mosquitoes have turned into adults and appear early because of the mild winter. It's best not to worry right now because the temps aren't warm enough yet.
