It is hard to hear about all the news that is going on, especially when it comes to police officers. They work around the clock, and most states have one to three officers per 1,000 civilians.

With these statistics, Safewise wanted to look deeper, and see which states have the most overworked police force state-wide.

And, Michigan topped their list.

According to Safewise, Michigan has 23,179 law enforcement employees, and in 2014, there were more than 630,000 crimes in the state.

That is 28 total crimes per officer.

These crimes include, according to Safewise’s findings, 25 property crimes and 3 violent crimes.

As Safewise states, it may not seem like a high number, but think about the work that goes into solving crimes, the paperwork involved and testifying in court.

Also, Safewise says that state-wide, there are 350 civilians for every one police officer.

To gather their data, Safewise based their findings off the 2014 FBI crime statistics, Census data and an analysis by the Safewise team.
