JACKSON, Mich. (WSYM) - The “Save Our Youth” group held the third gun buyback program of the year in Jackson Saturday.

The “Lay Down Your Arms Day” was held at the Higby Street Church of Christ.

About 20 guns were collected.

Organizers say it’s one more way to keep guns off of city streets.

"If we can get one gun off the street, that's a success,” said Thomas Burke, founder of “Save Our Youth” program. “The first two gun buybacks we've had this year, we were able to get about 28 guns off the streets."

Those that turned in their firearms received a $50 gift card.

The Jackson Police Department were onsite to handle weapons, talk about gun safety, and provide safe lock up.
