ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WSYM) - With just hours away from kickoff for the MSU vs U of M game at the Big House, Ann Arbor will be filling up with thousands of fans even before the game starts.

Whether you have tickets to the game, or just plan on tailgating with friends, you're going to need a place to park. There are several parking lots open to choose from, some closer than others, and shuttles available as well.

FOX 47 News' Alani Letang reports that once designated lots are filled up, another option is to start checking out nearby neighborhoods to park.

Ann Arbor residents said they are also opening up their front lawns for game-day parking. Residents that live close to the stadium, say their lawn is a lot more family friendly and calm than some of the parking lots.

Ralph Hale lives directly across the Michigan Stadium and he has allowed fans to park in his front and back lawn for 13 seasons, he said he enjoys having people and families park at his house. "Well the best thing is we know a lot of people in the neighborhood, and we all have kids they all play together, they all hang out together. For the people that park here we get to constantly meet new people and also build new relationships" said Ralph Hale.

Wherever you choose to park, parking is on a first come first serve basis. The earlier you get to Ann Arbor the better chance you have of getting some of the closest spots to the stadium.

A good tip from Ann Arbor residents is to bring cash no matter where you decide to park. Game day parking can range from $20 to over $50 depending on the location.
