Lansing is back to square one in it's effort to unload some green space.

Developer Schostak Brokers and Company are pulling out of the plan to buy the old Waverly golf course from the city.

The issue is zoning.

The property sits in Lansing Township, which has a rezoning moratorium in place.

Mayor Virg Bernero said he understands the company's decision and that he's frustrated by the delay because it's costing the city money.

"In the case of Schostak, I think they offered somewhere around 6 or 7 million dollars. So it's not inconsequential. When we do sell that property, it could be a major boost to our budget and to our park system," said Mayor Bernero.

Lansing Township's planning director says the moratorium is in place to give the township time to update it's zoning ordinance. He told us the township would have worked with Schostak if the company had presented a development plan.

We'll let you know if the situation changes.
