DELTA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WSYM) - Slick roads caused multiple crashes across Mid-Michigan Saturday.

Both directions of I-96 were closed down for hours in Delta Township around 11 a.m. as crews responded to a series of crashes near Mount Hope Highway and the I-496 interchange.

Many drivers were stopped on the highway for well over an hour.

Eaton County Sheriff deputies tell FOX 47 News eight vehicles were involved in crashes.

One crash involved a semi truck which came across the median and got tangled up in tension cables.

No one was hurt.

Eastbound lanes were reopened first before the westbound lanes of I-96.

Westbound lanes reopened to traffic around 1:30 p.m.
