UPDATE: Police have Jackson shooting suspect in custody

UPDATE:

Police with the Blackman-Leoni Township Department of Public Safety report they have located a suspect in Jackson and he was taken into custody without incident.

The department reports that at 2:47 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to 2730 Granada Drive in Blackman Township for a report of a shooting.

Upon arriving, officers found a 24-year-old male with a single gun-shot wound to the upper thigh. The suspect, a 22-year-old man, was an acquaintance of the victim, and fled the scene, the department says.

The victim was transported to Henry Ford Allegiance Health, and is expected to survive.

Detectives and Evidence Technicians worked the scene for several hours, and executed a search warrant on the suspect's home in Jackson.

The department reports neither the suspect or the victim lived in the apartment complex.

The suspect was lodged at the Jackson County Jail, and detectives believe they know what the motive for the shooting was, but specifics on the motives and identities of those involved are not being released at this time.

Police officers have responded to the scene of a shooting in Blackman Township.

Officers are at the Granada apartment complex on Springport Road in Jackson, and have confirmed to us that an individual was shot shortly before 3:00 PM on Thursday, September 29, 2016.

No information has been released regarding the person's identity or condition.
