Lawmakers were freezing for a reason on Thursday. They took part in a polar plunge for Special Olympics Michigan.  Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley was one of two dozen who jumped in the pool.

Senator Rick Jones says they expect to raise 30-thousand dollars from Thursday's plunge, that's ten thousand more than last year. "This is important because it's the largest fundraiser for Michigan's Special Olympics... and I can't believe I'm the only senator who will do it.... it's exhilarating and it's fun!"

Thursday's plunge was one of twenty-eight across the state from January through March. All money raised will help pay for training, equipment, and other things athletes need.
