As we get closer to Halloween haunted houses are popping up and decorations are everywhere, but those things just happen during October. We searched the country for some of the best abandoned towns where you might be spooked year-round. Kristina Guerrero is exploring three real ghost towns across America that will give you goosebumps.

1.  Bodie, California

There are over 150 buildings still standing, all original and unreconstructed. It's also the coldest place outside of Alaska in the United States, but visitors say you may encounter ghosts that will warm you right up.

2.  Jerome, Arizona

The town is a tourist hot spot. Visitors flock to businesses like the Jerome Grand Hotel, which used to be a hospital for copper miners and their families. Residents of the ghost town, like the hotel's owner, Sarah Moser, say you might even run into some ghosts of the former patients.

3.  Ashcroft, Colorado

This town is the perfect example of boom and bust. Within three years the population went from zero people up to 2,000. You could get anything you wanted here in Ashcroft. With only 9 buildings left, you can tour the town or even hold your wedding there if you don’t mind some uninvited ghosts.

4.  Cahawba, Alabama

This is not one of those touristy reconstructed recreated historic villages that Disney might have designed. This is a real authentic relic landscape. Linda Derry is the senior archaeologist at Cahawba and she says you don't have to work hard to have a ghostly encounter. Everywhere in this landscape embedded in it are messages left behind by Cahawba's long dead residents.
