Family road trips are an American institution and sometimes the journey can be as much fun as the destination. There's no shortage of weird, quirky and flat out hilarious attractions along the way. Kristina Guerrero hit the road in search of the strange attractions across America and has the top four must-visit spots.

1. Desert Space Capsule

This is a strange spot for a space capsule, located just outside of phoenix at exit 194 on I-10. It's actually an abandoned cement mixer given new life by phoenix artist Jack Millard.

2. Cushing Brain Collection

It doesn't take a lot of smarts to appreciate the world's largest collection of brains. Fittingly, it is housed in a school that takes a lot of brains to get into, Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. The best part is it is open to the public.

3. Banana Museum

You'll go bananas for the third attraction on our list. The International Banana Museum has more than twenty thousand banana related items. Next time you're monkeying around near Riverside, California be sure and check it out.

4. Fudge Factory

If you find yourself in Uranus, Missouri then this is a spot you have to stop at. The photo op alone makes it worth it.

5. World’s Largest Toilet

The world's largest toilet is located in Columbus, Indiana at the Kids Commons Children's Museum. At only $7 for admission you can see this and plenty of other stuff and you won't have to flush all your cash.
