Springer Prosthetic and Orthotic Services in Lansing offers a full range of prosthetic services for the pediatric through geriatric patients from custom fitted partial foot, below knee, above knee, and hip disarticulation prosthesis for the lower extremity patient to the above elbow, below elbow, and myo-electric prosthesis for the upper extremity patient.

Prosthetic Services

Springer Prosthetic and Orthotic Services offers a full range of prosthetic services for the pediatric through geriatric patients from custom* fitted partial foot, below knee, above knee, and hip disarticulation prosthesis for the lower extremity patient to the above elbow, below elbow, and myo-electric prosthesis for the upper extremity patient. The prosthesis can be fit for all activities.

Pre-Operative and Post-Operative Consultations and Education

· Informational brochures, pamphlets, and video cassettes.
· "Hands On" componentry and display items.
· Support of volunteers (other amputees volunteer to discuss situations
to the new amputee.)
· Continuous follow up.
· Training inservices and product inservices to physical, and
occupational therapist, and resident staff.
· Participation in area clinics.
· Attendance with patients at doctor appointments for evaluations if necessary.

Orthotic Services

Our professional and technical staff provide after hour and weekend on-call service in orthotic management for spinal trauma patients in need of thoracic, lumbar or sacral stabilization providing TLSO's in a twenty-four to forty-eight hour period.

Custom Spinal Orthotics:
· TSLO body jackets (bi-valve)
· With cervical extension provided for stable fractures at levels T7 or above
· Pre-operative moldings and fittings
· Scoliosis body jackets made of new thermoplastics
· Jewett or cash hyperextension orthoses supplied day of injury for anterior compression Fx's.

Our services also include cervical stabilization involving Halo systems. The following are services that would be provided:
· recheck fit and pin snugness prior to discharge
· provide and apply Halo vest liner replacement
· available for assistance in halo application
· follow-up at nursing homes and other extended care facilities
· provide necessary check-up of the halo system for any pin loosening
· continued follow through with orthotic services, including immediate application of miami-J collar or Somi orhtosis, once halo system is removed
· provide additional orthotic management in conjunction with rehab team when neuromuscular damage is a result of spine injury

Lower Extremity Orthotics:
· Innovative plastic and component designs
· Conventional metal designs

Pediatric Orthotics:
· Special designs for the upper, lower extremities and the spine
· Scoliosis management
· Follow-up evaluations at schools and rehab settings with therapists

Custom Fitted Orthotics:
We provide many Custom Fitted orthoses for fracture management. For sports medicine needs we have a large inventory of knee orthoses custom fabricated and Custom Fitted, and of course provide any type of soft Custom Fitted orthoses, knee sleeves, corsets, wrist supports, etc.

Patient Education:
We provide take home care and instruction information to our patients who come to our office. For our inpatients we provide pamphlets to them and their families so they are aware of the continued care that they need to take with their orthoses once they return home. This information also includes our phone number which allows them access to our services after hours and on weekends.

A vast orthotic slide library is available for personal consultation or educational presentations.

 

Foot Clinic Services

Kevin Brown, Certified Pedorthist, is the owner of the Cobbler Shop in Alma, Michigan. He comes to the Lansing office every Thursday to evaluate and fit those in need of specialty foot orthotics and orthopedic. His specialty is in custom foot orthotics, custom shoes, foot orthotics for the diabetic patient, orthopedic shoes and special sized shoes.

Emergency On-Call Services

Emergency on-call service is available for physicians, Hospital staff and those patients that need immediate attention after regular business hours, weekends, and holidays.
