Jackson Wins Big Solar Energy Contract
The city of Jackson has won a big contract, where it will generate solar energy to sell to Consumers Energy.
The city will install the solar power generators at its Wastewater Treatment Facility, and then get a monthly check as it sends the energy to consumers. The contract is good for 15 years.
Consumers Energy says it had so many applicants that it used a Powerball-like process to pick the winners.
Consumers Energy is planning to start a similar program for residential customers. The first contracts will likely be given out in January.
