Families and children can create make-it take-it crafts and participate in hands-on activities which related to the Museum’s permanent and temporary exhibitions. Each Second Saturday explores a new theme: Saturday, December 14, 2013 Investigate what sorts of creatures have left their marks on Michigan’s earth and snow. Discover the prehistoric remains of animals and learn how to identify modern paw prints. Second Saturdays for Families: Snow Science! Saturday, January 11, 2014. Come experiment with winter weather! Learn how to measure snowfall, create your own thermometer, and discover other snow-centered science activities. Second Saturdays for Families: Snow Games Saturday, February 8, 2014 Bring the fun back into winter – try out historic and modern snow activities, learn how to make snow shoes, and find out all the ways you can have fun in the snow. Second Saturdays for Families: Green Living Saturday, March 8, 2014 Celebrate spring and learning about environmentally sustainability. Investigate what sort of impact humans have on weather just by living our daily lives. Could your actions change the world? Second Saturdays for Families: Rain Research Saturday, April 12, 2014 Become a precipitation pro while investigating rain! Create a thunderstorm in a can, learn about the water cycle, and make your own rain barrel.
