Harris Nature Center Summer Day Camp Registration Continues

 
The Harris Nature Center, 3998 Van Atta Road in Meridian Township urges youngsters to “Make the Nature Connection” this summer. It’s not too late to join during the last two weeks of camp, Aug 1-12. The nature center is offering a variety of camps for toddlers through 5th graders. The fees vary, depending on the length of the camp, but all campers will receive a camp tee shirt.
 
These four-day camps include “My Cub and I” for 1-3 year olds with an adult; “Timber Tots” for 3-4 year olds with an adult; “Bug Buddies” and “Fur, Feathers, Scales and Slime” for preschoolers; “Amazing Animals” and “Wet and Wild” for kids entering kindergarten and 1st grade; “Things with Wings” and “Wet and Wild II” for kids entering 2nd and 3rd grades.
 
Kids entering 4th and 5th grades can participate in the Wild Child Camp which meets August 1-4 at 9am-3pm on Monday- Wednesday and 4-10 pm on Thursday to explore the park at night, make supper and enjoy a campfire.
 
 
Summer Campfire Series at the Harris Nature Center
 
Nothing says, “Summer in Michigan” like an evening around the campfire! Avoid the complications of a camping trip by attending a Summer Campfire this summer at the Harris Nature Center, 3998 Van Atta Road in Meridian Township.
 
The campfires will be held on Saturday evenings this summer at 8:30 pm, each with a different theme. Join us for: “Creatures of the Night” on July 30 and “Stories around the Campfire” on August 6. There will also be a walk and a traditional campfire treat each evening. Guided Park Walk in Meridian Township
 
Explore one of Meridian Township’s many parks with a naturalist guide from the Harris Nature Center. Each month will feature a different Township park. The next walk is Saturday August 20 at 10am at the Red Cedar Glen Preserve, located at the end of Sylvan Glen Drive in Okemos. The fee for the walk is $3/ person due at the time of the walk.
