Lansing's own Packy the rapper is releasing his latest album online on March 7th at midnight. "Mad Lifey," features 17 songs and is available on iTunes and digital stores.

"You go through all these moments and you have to appreciate every little thing," said Packy. The title of the album was inspired by Packy's tour our west. "When I'm on tour, you get to the end of the night and you're just like –this is what it's about, you have to remember these moments and we used the term 'lifey', just like 'mad lifey.'"

The Specktators, Packy's recording label, has put out a new single from "Mad Lifey" every week since January –giving fans eight of the 17 tracks ahead of the release.

"Sometimes it's tough to release a 15-track album and have people totally digest that the way they should," Packy said, "I wanted to stay in peoples ears, so I did singles every week and now it's culminating into the album  ...there are plenty of songs that they haven't heard."

Packy's personal favorite and the fan favorite track of the album is "Wobbin."

"It's just got a little bit of everything," Packy said, "It's fun, but its got a little bit of story in it the beat."

Packy explored his interest in hip-hop music in high school, with influence from his brother and his friends. In 2009, he began to write his own music as a hobby.

"My brother and I moved in together in 2009 and he just had a little bedroom home studio setup so we would just mess around with making music and that’s how it started," Packy said.

In 2014, Packy and his brother made a career out of their afterschool hobby. The Specktators became an independent label and Packy became a solo artist.

"Overtime it kind of developed into something bigger," Packy said. "I could see myself doing this as an actual career and we decided to take that leap and it paid off so far."

Packy has been on national tours performing on stage with Snoop Dogg, Machine Gun Kelly, Kid Ink, Timeflies, Chiddy Bang, Rockie Fresh, Yonas, SoMo and Aer.

"Mad Lifey" is his second album.

The Specktators next performance featuring Packy and will be at The Loft located at 414 East Michigan Ave, Lansing, MI on April 22, 2016.
