Super-Green Summer Shake

As promised, I am going to share with you my favorite BlenderBottle recipe to date.

Do you cringe at the words 'wheat grass, barley grass, alfalfa, spirulina, spinach and broccoli?'

Now imagine blending all those green goods into a shake and drinking it. Some of you may be thinking to yourself, "Gross. I will never drink something that has grass in it, spinach maybe."

I was a little hesitant myself, but when my sister made me try this stuff, I couldn't get enough of it. It's called Amazing Grass Green SuperFood Drink Powder: Cacao Chocolate Infusion. This super-blend helps you achieve your five to nine daily servings of fruits and veggies; it naturally detoxifies and boosts your immune system; contains probiotics and enzymes that aids digestion and absorption. Everything in this powder is raw and natural, non-GMO, and my personal favorite, GLUTEN FREE!


Often times, it is hard to find a product that both tastes good and is gluten friendly. I love it when something is clearly labeled "GF" because it saves me the time and frustration of having to read through every little additive on the ingredient list.

Though this product is infused with organic cacao, I will be honest, you are still going to taste the earthiness of the greens. But, that's the best part. You can actually taste the ingredients in the product, so you know what you are getting is good, natural and raw.

Here is the Nutritional Information: At only 30 calories, low in carbs and 0 grams of sugar--this is a product you will want to grab off the shelves.

The directions on the bottle suggest that you mix 1 scoop (8 grams) with 8 ounces of your favorite milk or water (it dissolves best when mixed with at least 1 ounce of water prior to adding milk).

- 1 Scoop (8 grams)  Amazing Grass SuperFood Drink Powder
- 3/4 cup Almond Milk (My favorite: Silk Pure Almond Vanilla Unsweetened)
- 1/4 cup Water


Add 1/4 cup of water to BlenderBottle. Add in 1 scoop of Amazing Grass drink powder. Shake to blend. Add 3/4 cup of almond milk (or more--the more milk you add the less "green" you will be able to taste). Shake again. Enjoy!

This is a very low-cal drink that packs a huge nutritional punch! Most of the time I will drink this shake as a pre-dinner snack, but it would also be a great pick-me up in the morning or mid-afternoon.

You can find this product in most health foods stores or order it online. Don't be alarmed by the price, you will get many shakes out of the little container.
