Fabulous Fall: Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Latte
There are some things that just feel like quintessential fall: football games, extra layers, cooler breezes, and for many coffee lovers out there: The Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks.
Its arrival on the scene shortly after Labor Day is a thing of legend, much like the appearance of the Great Pumpkin or first tree of orange and red leaves.
Wednesday marked my first morning with a Pumpkin Spice Latte, and even the baristas at Starbucks know this is a special occasion.
"Is this your first?" one of them asked. The first of several, that question seems to insinuate. And rightly so.
Anything pumpkin-related is delicious and incredibly special, because of how brief and wonderful a time it is when it's pumpkin season. Pumpkin pancakes at the Original Pancake House in Birmingham, pumpkin pie during the holidays, carving pumpkins for Halloween.
Although it's sad to imagine the summer days ending soon, there are many things exciting and wonderfully familiar about the fall. I'm counting down the hours to my first trip to the cider mill this weekend, and MSU football games where jeans and a sweatshirt are just warm enough, and plenty more pumpkin-flavored treats to come.
