Today would have been Julia Child's 100th birthday, and August 15th also marks my wedding anniversary with my husband. The year we got married was also the year that Julie & Julia was released in theaters, and aside from memories of watching Julia cooking on PBS, I didn't know much about her until the film.
Afterward, I read the book the film is based on, and also read Julia's book My Life in France.
For Halloween that year, it was a given that I would dress up as Julia - with my highest heels on and my copy of Mastering the Art of French Cooking in tow.

I was also sure to eat plenty of French bread that day.
And earlier this year, Zack bought me a mortar and pestle, similar to the one Paul Child gave to Julia.

I think what I love most about Julia is her love story and marriage with Paul Child.

"You are the butter to my bread and the breath of my life."
It's a sentiment I share for my husband of three years and love of eight.
