You're a Classy Man, Martin Short
I first loved Martin Short as Franck Eggelhoffer in Father of the Bride when I was a kid, and he continues to be a hilarious, wonderful actor and man.
He's also one classy dude.
I'm still feeling that awful feeling in the pit of my stomach thinking about what happened on The Today Show yesterday, when Kathie Lee Gifford asked Martin Short about his marriage with his wife Nancy. The only problem? Nancy passed away from ovarian cancer in 2010.
Martin went along with the conversation and answered Kathie Lee's questions very sweetly, but there is clearly a sense of loss and sadness in his voice too.
Following the segment, he quietly mentioned Nancy's passing, and Kathie Lee apologized on air and on Twitter.
I still can't believe that this happened, and I'm sure Kathie Lee feels awful about it. But ultimately, I love how Martin Short handled the situation.
"I think that it's live television and people make mistakes and there's no ill will intended," Short told E! News. "And I think it's nice to aspire to be that way."
Love you, Martin Short!
