Nick's 90s Mix Tape on 'New Girl' Finale

  • Print

New Girl
continues to be one of my favorite shows on TV, and Tuesday night's finale did not disappoint. From another set of pitch-perfect one-liners from Winston and Schmidt to a jealous Jess and a freaked-out Nick, it was the best culmination of everything I've grown to love about the show.

Nick was preparing to move out of the apartment, and Jess was trying everything she could do to keep it from happening. When Nick, Winston, and Schmidt had the moving van packed up, Nick gets to the new apartment and keeps on going... for 150 miles.

The guys end up stuck in the desert after a freaked-out Nick tosses his keys into the abyss. When Jess comes to the rescue, she acts like she tosses out her own keys so that the group is stuck in the desert with all of Nick's possessions.

A makeshift campout ensues, with beers and random furniture.

Perhaps my favorite part of the entire episode was Jess's discovery of a mix tape Nick made when he was 14 years old. With the push of a button, the group is transformed back to the 90s as Deep Blue Something's only hit "Breakfast at Tiffany's" blares on in the desert.

From there, we are treated to OMC's "How Bizarre". And the best random hit of them all to appear on the mixtape? Crash Test Dummies' "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm". At that point, the roommates are all drunk and swaying to the song in slow, zombie-like movements.

Here are the selections from 14-year-old Nick's gloriously 90s mix tape.
