Awards Season: My Super Bowl
It's safe to say that I'm a pop culture, red carpet, awards show, quote-movies-all-the-time junkie. And just as any sports buff (or chili and chips fanatic) gets a gleam in his or her eye as Super Bowl Sunday approaches, as a pop culture junkie, this is the beginning of my favorite time of the year.
Today the Golden Globe nominations were announced, and just the thought of the show being only a month away has made me giddy with excitement. Not only is Ricky Gervais - aka one of the funniest people in existence - back to host the awards, but so many of my favorites have been nominated.
And not only are they my favorites because of their work this year, but because of the red carpet fashionpalooza potential they each possess. How exciting to be able to see what Michelle Williams, Zooey Deschanel, Meryl Streep, Kate Winslet, and the other exquisite ladies will wear throughout the awards season, but especially at the Globes.
My mental list of need-to-see films is growing by the minute (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Descendants, My Week with Marilyn, The Artist), and I haven't even been able to see The Muppets yet.
Yes, this truly is an exciting time of the year. And thankfully my husband is just as much of a movie lover (God bless those film majors) that he'll sit through two hours of E!'s Live on the Red Carpet specials with me in order to get to the main event.
I can't wait to sharpen my pencil, plot out my ballot choices, and look at my favorite stars with awe as they float down the red carpet.
Merry Awards Season!
