The X Factor Top 12 Revealed
It's difficult to make comparisons between The X Factor and American Idol, because they are two very different shows, but there is one major difference that is making The X Factor a must-watch for me right now.
The judges had the power - and sometimes difficult task - of choosing who would make it into the Top 12. There have been several seasons of American Idol where a big favorite in the early stages doesn't make it because tweens are texting and dialing their fingers off voting for some cute pop thing instead of the quirky singer with oodles of talent.
Last night's episode was so satisfying because I knew that the judges were smart enough to know who should be making it through and who shouldn't. Their comments and opinion actually mean something in this stage of The X Factor.
Watching this show will become quite difficult because there's not much fat left to cut off of the meat. Each judge's team has some amazing talent, and the talents are all so diverse. It's apples and oranges up there, but also bananas and grapes and starfruit there too.
The outcome is going to be anything but predictable. And that's what is making this series so fun and exciting to watch.
Here are some of my favorite performances from the contestants last night. I've forced myself to pick a favorite performance from each judge's group, although it's pretty difficult.
The Stereo Hogzz, The Groups (Paula Abdul)
(Other Groups: Intensity and Lakoda Rayne)
Drew Ryniewicz, The Girls (Simon Cowell)
(Other Girls: Rachel Crow and Melanie Amaro)
Josh Krajcik, The Over 30s (Nicole Scherzinger)
(Other Over 30s: LeRoy Bell and Stacy Francis)
Marcus Canty, The Boys (L.A. Reid)
(Other Boys: Brian "Astro" Bailey and Chris Rene)
