Recipe: 5 Layer Greek Dip
You've seen it, that five or seven layered fiesta dip at parties, full of beans, sour cream, cheese, and calories! Ahhhh, and you can't quite keep your chip away from it. Well, I've been searching for a healthy alternative without compromising on taste. I was also so bored with the tried and true taco dip, that I reached into my heritage for some inspiration...Enter the 5 Layer Greek Dip.
All fresh ingredients make this dip super yummy, very fresh, and all together a crowd pleaser. I've taste tested this at numerous family gatherings and parties, and the verdict is clear: it's a WINNER. You can go all gourmet and make your own hummus for this, but for me, I use Basha hummus.
You can serve this dip with a variety of options. I serve mine with Stacy's Pita Chips. But you can use Naan Bread, cut up fresh pita, baguette bread, crackers, or even celery stalks for those that really want to watch the calories.
5 Layer Greek Dip
- Red Onion
- Cucumber (seeded, chopped)
- Red Bell Pepper
- Crumbled Feta Cheese
Chop up each of the vegetables. Make sure to seed your cucumber before chopping. I leave the cucumber skin on because I think it adds more color and more texture to the dip. Spread hummus on the bottom of your serving dish. Then add each of your vegetables in layers: red onion, cucumber, red pepper, reserving a small portion of each for last. Then crumble your feta and add on top. For the finishing touch, sprinkle the reserved portions of the vegetable to add to the top for color.
Serve chilled with your favorite accompaniment.
