Event Description

Benefiting the Access to Justice Fund
The Michigan State College of Law
Hockey Club is hosting the Sixth Annual Skate for Justice Hockey Tournament between hockey
clubs from law schools at Wayne State in Detroit, Detroit Mercy, University of Michigan and
Michigan State University. The event is being showcased at Munn Ice Arena in East Lansing
and should be a good example of competitive camaraderie to benefit the Access to Justice Fund.
Admission is open to everyone for a minimum donation of $5 for a ticket. Tickets will be
available at the door. Munn Ice Arena, home to the Michigan State Spartans is a wonderful
venue for this event as it provides ample seating and a unique experience for players and fans.
The Tournament will begin with the first puck drop at 1:00 pm between the hockey clubs of the
University of Michigan Law School and Michigan State University College of Law.
Immediately following this game the hockey clubs of Wayne State University Law and the law
school at Detroit Mercy will take the ice. A consolation game to determine 3rd place will be
played as the third game. The fourth and Championship game will be between the winners of
the first two preliminary games.
The Access to Justice Fund supports civil legal aid for the poor. It assists nonprofit agencies
throughout Michigan that help low income families with problems such as protection from
domestic violence, support for children, access to healthcare and other needs. The Access to
Justice Campaign was established in 1997 as a partnership of the State Bar of Michigan, the
Michigan State Bar Foundation, and our State’s legal aid programs.
The Access to Justice Fund is administered by the Foundation. For more information on the
Access to Justice Fund please visit www.ATJfund.org.
